YEREVAN. – Algeria’s new Ambassador to Armenia, Smaïl Allaoua, whose diplomatic residence is in Moscow, on Friday presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

Sargsyan congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and expressed the hope that, during his tenure, the diplomat will put his long-track record into use to strengthen Armenian-Algerian relations, informed the Press Office of the President.

The President stressed that Armenia underscores the political dialogue and contacts with the Arab world, including Algeria, and stands ready to explore the opportunities for further collaboration.

Serzh Sargsyan and Ambassador Allaoua shared the view that the Armenian and Arab nations are interconnected with centuries-old friendship, and relations between Armenia and the Arab countries develop on the basis of this friendship.

They stressed that there is great potential for enhancing cooperation and supporting each other. And as per the Algerian ambassador, the right of peoples to self-determination in one such common approach.

The interlocutors also highlighted the need for collaboration in confronting the new challenges.
