YEREVAN. – The participation by Armenia and Georgia in different integration unions does not work against, but rather for one another, and it complements one another. 

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia National Assembly (RPA NA) Faction member Vardan Ayvazyan, who is also Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, stated about the aforesaid at a press conference on Saturday.

“Owing to the political leadership of Armenia and Georgia, the different economic integration directions bring additional dividends and benefits  to the two states,” the RPA MP stressed.

Ayvazyan added that, in the case when the treaty  on  the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the European Union (EU) assumes uninhibited borders and turnover of goods, the Eurasian economic zone clearly defines its priorities.

And, as per Ayvazyan, there is no adverse manifestation in Armenia-Georgia relations, since the free trade agreement between these two countries is in force to this day.

On June 27, Georgia had signed the EU Association Agreement, whereas on October 10, Armenia had signed the treaty on accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union.
