YEREVAN. – German KfW will provide assistance to save on artesian water in Ararat valley, Nature Protection Minister Aramayis Gruoryan said.

The agreement was reached during a meeting with KfW leadership in Berlin in October, he added.

The sides discussed the installation of a network of an automatic control of artesian wells in order to avoid excessive consumption permits for water users.

However, for entire Ararat Valley, the system will be quite expensive because the wellsc are operating in more than 140 settlements of Ararat and Armavir regions.

“We do not know to what extent our German partners agreed to fund this program, but some level of support will be provided for sure,” the Minister said.
