YEREVAN. – Turkey is willing to mislead world community, and the moves will continue next year, director of Armenia-based Institute of Orientology Ruben Safrastyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Condolences to the Armenian people by President Erdogan were extended in a way that insulted Armenians.

“He put on the equal scales 1.5 million victims of the Armenian Genocide – a result of the Ottoman Empire's policy – and losses that occurred during the World War,” Safrastyan explained.

“However, I see a new trend: Turkish authorities' aspiration to establish relations with the Armenian diaspora. They are trying to understand them and have an influence on them”.

The expert believes this trend will continue next year, but he is confident Turkey's moves are not based on real dialogue. 

“They do not have a goal to recognize Genocide and normalize Armenia-Turkey relations ,” he emphasized.
