YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Economy of Armenia has issued a statement in connection with the country’s certain present-day foreign trade restrictions and prohibitions against third countries, and within the framework of the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

“These restrictions are expressed in the fact that several specific groups of products’ import from third countries to the EEU, and (or) exports from the EEU to third countries, is prohibited.

“The prohibitions, or restrictions, are particularly with regard to civil and service weapons, [narcotic] drugs, hazardous waste, rare animals and plants, and [several] other special types of products.

“The restrictions were imposed before [Armenia’s forthcoming] accession to the EEU, [and] also, to fulfill the [country’s] obligations assumed under international agreements.

“The peculiarities for the protection of the domestic market of the EEU member states [Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan] have been taken into account in the noted lists, and regulatory measures have been set, which are applied solely to a particular state,” the ministry statement specifically reads.
