Dear compatriots,
2014 is coming to its end. It has been rich both in victories and accomplishments, as well as challenges and difficulties. The most important result is that we succeeded in maintaining peace and stability in our country and the region.
During the passing year the enemy has made aggressive attempts to destabilize situation along the borderline resorting to the meanest steps and measures. However, our heroic army has rebuffed all the enemy’s encroachments forced it to retreat, demonstrating once again our strength, determination and will. Unfortunately, we also have had bereavement and irretrievable losses. Our brave sons have sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of the Motherland. Eternal glory and honor to them!
The complex global situation has also cast its influence on our country, especially in the economic field. However, I must note that notwithstanding all those challenges we have managed to ensure a stable socioeconomic development.
Our nation's painstaking work, wisdom and optimism, as well as infinite love and devotion towards the Motherland, have made possible Artsakh’s continuous and steady progress along its chosen path constantly feeling the practical support of Armenia and the Diaspora. The Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora unwavering trinity has always been and will remain one of the cornerstones of our statehood.
In 2014 activities aiming at the implementation of strategic projects, raising the combat readiness of the Defense Army were continued to be implemented in the republic, international recognition of Artsakh and the process of establishing ties with various countries gained a new impetus, a range of important infrastructures was established, numerous objects were put into exploitation.
We also have serious work and plans to be realized in the coming year. In 2015 the worldwide Armenians will remember the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, which is among the most tragic and terrible pages in the history of Armenians and humanity. 70 years have passed since the victory in the Great Patriotic War. Hundreds and thousands of Armenians heroically fought in various fronts of the Second World War and prevented the realization of a new genocide with their valor and feat.
These historical lessons, as well as the glorious pages of our modern history proved once again a simple truth, that the most reliable guarantee of peace, stability, security and steady development is the powerful, independent statehood and a strong national army. We will continue to undertake necessary measures towards reinforcing our defense capacity, improving the living conditions of our citizens and increasing their living standards.
Dear compatriots,
On this festive day I would like to congratulate first of all our soldiers safeguarding the borders of our Motherland, the entire command staff of the Defense Army and wish them good and secure service.
I congratulate you, dear people of Artsakh, our sisters and brothers in Armenia and the Diaspora on this wonderful feast. I wish you peace, happiness, prosperity and great success. Let harmony, love and mutual respect reign in our hearths.
Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!”
