YEREVAN. - Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan today received Herbert Salber, European Union (EU) Special Representative for the South Caucasus and for the crisis in Georgia.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to the security and stability in the region, the current stage of talks on Karabakh conflict peaceful settlement, present problems and further possible efforts to advance the normalization process, as well as the cooperation development between Armenia and EU.   

Sargsyan once again stressed that Armenia highly appreciates EU’s balanced stance on Karabakh conflict, as well as its commitment to create favorable climate for the comprehensive resolution of tat conflict. The President attached importance to the full support of Riga’s Eastern Partnership summit held on May 21-22 to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs aimed at normalizing the Karabakh conflict, including the statements made at the level of the presidents of those countries since 2009.  

Herbert Salber stressed that the wording regarding Karabakh conflict included in the declaration adopted as a result of the Riga Summit, was truly just and completely adequate to the situation.  

He reconfirmed the EU support to the talks conducted in the framework of the the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs format, stressing that EU’s stance remains unchanged in maintaining that format.
