YEREVAN. – The Armenian authorities have given their civil aviation to Russia's control, former head of Armenia's civil aviation Shahen Petrosyan said.

“The Armenian companies cannot resist Russian dumping and lose the competition. This happened with Air Armenia,” he added.

According to Petrosyan, the reason is that the current Armenian authorities do not seek to defend their interests in the aviation market in order to establish parity of flights. 

“In the 90s we had a parity with Russia, we had the strength and will to stand as equal. As a result, we had three airlines: two passengers carriers Armenian Airlines and Airlines Araks and one cargo carrier Eravia. And they all worked with a profit,” Petrosyan said.
