The mayor of Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, Taron Margaryan—who is participating as a guest of honor in the events being held in Marseilles and devoted to the Bastille Day, the French National Day—, also met with Mayor Jean-Claude Gaudin of this French city.

First, the mayor of Marseilles made a brief tour with Margaryan, during which he presented the developments and accomplishments of the last few years in the city.

In addition, Gaudin attached a particular importance to the role of the local Armenian community in the development of Marseilles. He also expressed a conviction that, in fact, Marseilles is a hometown for the French Armenians, especially given that numerous Armenian Genocide survivors had first immigrated to this French city.

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, for his part, thanked for the trust and constant attention toward the Armenian community. He expressed a conviction that, thanks to the efforts of the Armenian community, the warm friendly relations between the two countries—and also between Yerevan and Marseilles—will become more active, and record new developments.
