YEREVAN. - “If any political force takes the second, third or fourth place in parliamentary elections, it can form a coalition with the forces which took the first and second places,” Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov told Armenian News – NEWS.am today after the RPA Executive body session.

Referring to the concerns raised by MPs in media regarding the second phase of the parliamentary elections, Sharmazanov said that those elected by the first phase will not lose their mandates.

“101 mandates received will be retained regardless of the results of the second phase,” Sharmazanov said, noting that the political forces which take the first two places during the first phase will participate in the second phase. According to him, the number of the mandates to be provided in the framework of the second phase will be ascertained in the Electoral Code.

Sharmazanov said this is a very democratic model, similar to that of San Marino and Italy.
