YEREVAN. - The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MPs from single-mandate constituencies do not express dissatisfaction with the switch to the 100 per cent election system by proportional lists, Davit Harutyunyan, Chief of Government and minister, told Armenian News – NEWS.am on Thursday after the session of the RPA Executive body.

“We have explained the conditions which determined the shift to the 100 per cent election system by proportional lists. This is very widely spread. Of course, there are also traditional parliamentary states, based on 100 per cent single-mandate system, but all young democracies of the recent years are based on exactly the proportional model,” Harutyunyan said.

Chapters 1-7 of Armenia’s new draft Constitution were published on Wednesday. According to the new Constitution, Armenia is switching to the model of parliamentary republic.
