YEREVAN. – The main idea of constitutional amendments in Armenia is to make the country ready for a peaceful change of power.

Government Chief of Staff-Minister, Davit Harutyunyan, told the above-said to reporters, and after Thursday’s board meeting of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia.

“It is our responsibility to present the flaws in the current system,” noted Harutyunyan. “There are semi-presidential countries that have had perilous situations; this situation may be doubly perilous for Armenia.” 

Chapters 1 through 7 of the new draft Constitution of Armenia were made public on Wednesday. Accordingly, the draft Constitution clearly indicates that the country will make a transition to a parliamentary system of governance.
