A Greek military pilot, being unable to withdraw cash due to the current financial crisis in Greece, entered Turkey with his F-16 fighter aircraft, and then quietly left after withdrawing a large amount of cash from several automated teller machines (ATMs).

Greek pilot, Major Homeros Sipostopoulos, secretly entered the Turkish airspace during a training flight, and landed at an abandoned airport in the Aydın Province of Turkey, Haberler website of Turkey reported citing the Radiocockpit.fr website of France.

Subsequently, the Greek military pilot withdrew 6,000 Turkish liras (approx. US$2,262) from several ATMs of Aydın city, exchanged them into euros, and returned to Greece with his fighter plane.

But the Aydın Province authorities, speaking to reporters, refuted this information.
