YEREVAN. – By the decision of the authorized representative of the Mayor of Yerevan—the capital city of Armenia—, the notification by opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman and ex-presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan, and with respect to holding a public assembly on Friday at Liberty Square, has been noted.

The new draft Constitution will be debated at the event.

“The publicized draft was not publicly discussed,” Hayrikyan had stated. “It is not a reform; there is no model there, and we will present our [respective] ideas.”

Chapters 1 through 7 of the new draft Constitution of Armenia were made public on July 15. Accordingly, the country will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance.
