YEREVAN. - Germany’s newly appointed ambassador to Armenia Matthias Kiesler today extended his credentials to Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan.  

The President congratulated the Ambassador and wished him success in implementing his diplomatic mission in Armenia, stressing that solid ground and good preconditions are present for that aim.

The interlocutors agreed that Armenia and Germany have stable political dialogue; the inter-parliamentary ties are developing rapidly and significant potential to deepen the trade and economic relations is present. According to volumes of commodity turnover, Germany is one of the primary trade partners of Armenia among EU states.

Sargsyan thanked the German government for its continuous support to Armenia. Besides political and economic ties, during the meeting importance was also attached to the cooperation in cultural, scientific and educational, military and a number of other areas.

Armenia’s President highly appreciated the statement of the German President Joachim Gauck on the acknowledgement of the Armenian Genocide, reiterating that it was the confident speech of a powerful state’s strong leader.  

The newly appointed Ambassador Matthias Kiesler assured that during his service he will do his best to continue developing the cooperation between the two countries and contribute to the involvement of new cooperation spheres in the mutual relations.

The interlocutors also exchanged ideas on regional issues and challenges.
