YEREVAN. – The media coverage of murders and suicides have an adverse effect on human psychology, said psychologist Anna Badalyan, at a press conference on Monday.
Badalyan added that such media coverage has increased.
“The [media] coverage of such phenomena is educational for the psychologically sound society, whereas it stagnates the mindset among the [psychologically] unsound society,” she said. “The murders, the suicides need to be able to be covered competently by applying psychological skills.”
In the psychologist’s words, such media reports may impel a psychologically susceptible person to commit suicide, and cause a drop in work efficiency and a depressed mood among a healthy, vigorous, and spirited person.
“Reports that show lament, unfortunate incidents, [and] tragic situations should be excluded from the media,” added Anna Badalyan.
