YEREVAN. – Armenia can meet Iran’s technology demands.

Armenia’s opposition Founding Parliament initiative coordinator Garegin Chugaszyan, who is also member of the “Armenian-Iranian Friendship” NGO, noted the aforementioned at Monday’s discussion entitled “Prospects for Armenian-Iranian Strategic Partnership.”

In his words, there are great opportunities for turning Armenia into an education center for Iran.

“Armenia has the chance to become a center for technology transfer,” stressed Chugaszyan. “No matter how much we say that Turkey fulfills this role, at any rate, there is a political distrust issue here.

“Armenia, in contrast to Turkey, doesn’t compete with Iran in the region.

“And in the case of Azerbaijan, the matter of a large Azerbaijani population is also added to that.”

In the analyst’s words, the Armenian diaspora can play a certain role not solely in Armenia, but in the region—especially in Iran—, with its connections in the technology industry.

“The technology sector is second, after the oil and [natural] gas sector, in terms of investments,” concluded Garegin Chugaszyan.
