The enthronement ceremony of Krikor Gabroyan, patriarch of the Armenian Catholic Church took place in the courtyard of the Monastery of Virgin Mary in Lebanon’s Zmmar village yesterday.

The celebration was attended by Armenia’s Ambassador to Lebanon Ashot Kocharyan, Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia Aram I, Catholicos of all Armenians Karekin 2, Archbishop Nahtan Hovhannisian, representatives of the Holy See’s Congregation of Eastern Churches, the Papal Nuncio to Lebanon, Armenian and foreign high-ranking clergymen, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, ministers, high-ranking militaries and leaders of national institutions. 

Catholicos and Particrah Krikor Bedros Gabroyan served his first liturgy, Armenia’s MFA press-service reports.  He thanked Armenia’s president, Catholcoses of all Armenia and the Great House of Cilicia for the support, assuring that he’ll do his best to strengthen the cooperation with the Armenian authorities and the two church units.

The liturgy was followed by solemn supper, during which various congratulations were conveyed to the patriarch. Ambassador Kocharyan read out the congratulatory message of Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan.  

Krikor Bedros Gabroyan was succeeded by Nerses Bedros 19, who died in 2015.
