YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Ambassador to Germany, Ashot Smbatyan, on Monday met in Potsdam city with Minister President Dietmar Woidke of the German federal state of Brandenburg. 

Woidke noted that it is important for him to receive the ambassador of a country with a rich Christian culture, informed the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

Ambassador Smbatyan, for his part, stressed that Brandenburg is of great importance for Armenia because the home-museum of renowned German humanist Johannes Lepsius, a great friend of the Armenian nation, is located in Potsdam.

In the ensuing talk, the interlocutors reflected on the prospects for Armenia-Brandenburg cooperation in several domains. In particular, they stressed the great potential for collaboration between the observatories in Potsdam and in Byurakan village in Armenia’s Aragatsotn Province.
