YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan has almost no possibility to achieve progress in war for Nagorno-Karabakh, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan told reporters.

The analyst described situation at the line of contact rather tense, adding that it is not beyond the limits of the recent trend.

“Such actions will continue, there will be shooting, even inflationary attempts. It is hardly possible to stop this. On the other hand, I believe transition to active military actions is impossible,” Iskandaryan said.
The analyst sees connection between escalation and military drills that are being held in Armenia, as well as the visit of Russian FM to Azerbaijan. However, one of the key points is also dramatic fall in oil prices.

As regards militarist rhetoric by Azerbaijani leadership, Iskandaryan added that it is impossible to win the war.

“The war will by stopped by world community. Karabakh conflict is an instrument and advantageous to the Azerbaijani side: it is used as an excuse of poverty,” he added.
