Turkey and Russia suspended talks on Turkish Stream project for now because of the failed attempts to form government in Turkey after the June elections, Turkish official said.

“We can’t move forward in the negotiations at the moment. Russia placed the gas discount talks between Gazprom and Turkey’s gas grid, BOTAŞ, as a prerequisite to the Turkish Stream project. But we saw this as a starting point,” Energy Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Sefa Sadık Aytekin told Hurriyet Daily News.

He added that the parties did not end the talks, but frozen them.

The official recalled that in June the sides managed to agree on unilateral gas discount from around 6 percent to 10.25 percent.
