YEREVAN. – The Eurasian Economic Commission forecasts have been made public, and they are pessimistic, to say the least, for Armenia, reported Zhamanak daily.

“According to these projections, Armenia will end this year with a 0.9-percent [economic] growth, whereas the EEU [i.e. the Eurasian Economic Union, which comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and most recently, Kyrgyzstan] will record a 2.4-percent decline.

“[But] the government in Armenia, and more precisely Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, is actively trying to convince everyone that there is a 4.4-percent six-month economic growth.

“The EEU Economic Commission has basically crossed out Hovik Abrahamyan’s optimism, and personal statistics, so to speak.

“Moreover, the problem is that delegates from Armenia also work in the EEU Economic Commission.

“It turns out that the delegates from Armenia are also participants in the process of bringing Hovik Abrahamyan’s statements out to the water surface, so to speak.

“And if the economic indicators are different at the end of the year, the matter of changing the Armenia delegates will basically rise. And if the EEU projections are justified, the matter of changing Hovik Abrahamyan shall inevitably rise,” wrote Zhamanak.
