A US Marine veteran is still recovering after he was assaulted at a Washington D.C. McDonald’s last week while he was leaving the restaurant. His injuries were so severe, he ended up in the hospital, according to FOX 5.

Marquez, a student at American University, is a decorated veteran who was awarded a Bronze Star for valor in the Iraq War.

Several Good Samaritans have come to Chris Marquez’s aid after the brutal attack.

Among them, American Armenian Mike Tikoyan, the owner of NT Auto Body in Alexandria, Virginia, reached out to Marquez in hopes of helping him out.

“I heard about it from a friend of mine what happened to Chris and it really hurt my heart,” said Tikoyan. “Being the Marine that he is, it’s something a little special that goes deeper from all my friends – a lot of Marines, Coast Guard – they all have military [experience]. And when I saw what happened to him, it just hurt me when they took the wallet, no money left, and I said I have to do something.”

Tikoyan and his brother gave a $5,000 check to Marquez to help with his recovery and expenses in the aftermath of the attack.

But this is the not the first time the auto body shop owner has helped a local person recovering from a harrowing experience. Back in 2013, Alexandria Police Officer Peter Laboy was shot in the head while on duty conducting a traffic stop. Tikoyan gave Laboy a big surprise as part of his recovery -- he remade a car for Laboy free of charge.
