Biologists have given the anatomical structure of the dinosaur toes to the chicken claws.

The results of this experiment are published in Evolution monthly magazine.

Brazilian researcher Joâo Botelho and his partner at the lab at the University of Chile managed to recreate the dinosaur toes’ development process on chickens, and by modifying a gene of these birds.

The genes of chickens are the closest to those of the extinct dinosaurs, reported Lenta.ru, a Moscow-based online newspaper.

Biologists believe that birds are direct descendants of dinosaurs.
