Five people, including a pregnant woman, were injured in a fire in a residential complex Ajman One on the border between the northeastern emirates of Ajman and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE ) on Tuesday, TASS reported quoting Gulf News.

According to the edition, "five people have been slightly injured, they have got on-site assistance immediately". A pregnant woman was among the victims and was taken to the hospital with shortness of breath.

According to the UAE Civil Defence Service, the situation in the burning complex Ajman One  is under control. Rescuers said the fire is localized and there is no danger now.

The alert was sent at 21:45 local time. Two hours later the fire has spread to the two adjacent buildings and engulfed more than ten floors. All residents of the complex were evacuated.

Severe fires often take place in the UAE skyscrapers with the main cause being a short-circuit wiring. The last major fire occurred in Dubai on New Year's Eve when five-star Address Hotel almost burned to the ground in the heart of the city.
