Amr Gamal, the Airbus A320 captain of Egypt Air airline, gave the details of the hijacking.
According to him, hijacking of the plane became known from a note which was given to pilots by one of the passengers, TASS reported.
Hijacker Seif Eldin Mustafa could not decide to which country send a plane: he demanded to fly to Greece, Turkey or to Cyprus.
"Fuel would be enough only to Cyprus, as I told him", Gamal said. According to the captain, the Egyptian did not put forward other demands.
The pilot said he saw on the monitor that the hijacker pinned something similar to explosive on his belt. Later it turned out that the device was a model which the Egyptian made during the flight.
The co-pilot, in turn, mentioned that the crew tried to behave with the offender “with maximum caution”: they tried to calm him down, offered tea and coffee. As it was reported ,Seif Eldin Mustafa closely monitored publications about himself in mass media.
EgyptAir plane flying from Alexandria to Cairo was hijacked in the morning on March 29. Upon the demand of the terrorist the crew turned the plane and landed at Larnaca airport. More than 80 people were on the plane, the majority of them were Egyptians. Among the passengers were citizens of the USA, Great Britain, Italy, Ireland and the Netherlands.
After negotiations, the man surrendered to authorities. According to Prime Minister of Egypt Sherif Ismail, the attacker's motives are unclear.
