The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be resolved by peaceful means and without violence, reads the statement by the Canadian ruling Liberal Party representative Anthony Housefather, who is also the chairman of the Standing House Committee on Justice and Human Rights.

Representative of Armenia's Embassy to Canada Sasus Hovhannisyan posted on his Facebook the following excerpt from Mr. Housefather's speech: “This is a conflict that must be resolved by peaceful means and not violence. I am very pleased that a cease fire is in place. However, almost all reports indicate that the violence was initiated by Azerbajian and as such I strongly condemn this armed intervention and call for the Minsk Group to place permanent monitors on the ground as opposed to being limited to periodic inspections."
