YEREVAN. - Poland is closely watching the developments in Nagorno-Karabakh, maintaining moderate stand, Polish Ambassador to Armenia Jerzy Marek Nowakowski told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

Responding to the request to comment on the conduct of the Azerbaijani soldiers, who mistreated the bodies of the Armenian soldiers and shot three elderly people in Armenian Talish village, cutting off their ears, the Ambassador said: “On the one hand, it’s simply impossible to look at this calmly. But on the other hand, as a diplomat I want to be very moderate with regard to the conflict, since if someone interferes with such a conflict without certain preparation, they can only further complicate it. Thus, I don’t want to say whether this was an aggression or not, but from human standpoint war is unacceptable.”

He also noted that the information is incomplete, this making it very difficult for diplomats to express their stance on this conflict. “The most important thing is for the parties to the conflict to reach serious truce,” the ambassador stressed.

Responding to the question as to whether he thinks that exactly the European countries should  make targeted statements in connection with the recent developments in the zone of Karabakh conflict, Nowakowski said:  “I think, technical diplomacy will work better for now. Nobody should make statements yet. All the parties should sit down at negotiation table and stop the violence. Poland neither takes part in the OSCE Minsk Group nor is directly connected with this conflict. But we are closely watching the developments in Nagorno-Karabakh, maintaining moderate stand”.
