The court in China has sentenced a man to death for sale of secret documents to foreign intelligence agencies, Interfax reported quoting the China Central Television.

According to the TV report, Huang, a computer specialist, joined a research institute in Chengdu in Sichuan province in 1997 that develops China’s cryptographic communication codes.

In 2002 he offered to sell military communication codes online and was contacted by foreign intelligence agencies.

The man has given to representatives of intelligence agencies in total 150,000 classified documents including 90 “top confidential”, 292 “confidential” and 1,674 “secret”. He earned $700,000 in 21 deals over 10 years.

The report says that transfer of the document leaked cipher codes for Communist Party, government, military and financial communications.

Due to the exposure of Huang, at least 29 officials at his former place of work got penalties.
