Permanent Representative of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic in the United States Robert Avetisyan delivered a speech at the Washington-based Institute of World Politics on " Caucasus Flashpoint: The Nagorno Karabakh Conflict in Context" .
Discussions focused on a large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan in early April against Artsakh, as well as other regional issues.
NKR representative in his speech presented the process of the recent events and their consequences. He stressed the importance of returning Artsakh to the negotiation table as an equal party and the need for international recognition of NKR.
Expert Peter Debbins, who worked in Azerbaijan as a consultant in the field of defense, delivered a speech.
Debbins submitted his observations on the energy reserves of Azerbaijan, difficult economic situation in the country, military spending and social problems.
At the end of the meeting, the speakers answered questions from the audience.
The event, which is organized and hosted by Vilen Khlghatyan, was attended by Armenian and foreign diplomats, representatives of the institute, experts, journalists, and members of the Armenian-American community.
