The US Department of State has corrected a major semantic mistake, which State Department Spokesperson John Kirby had made in his statement on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“We continue supporting the UN process, we still believe, that’s the best way forward. Our Minsk Group co-chair visited the region with Russia and France co-chairs, making it clear that we want to see a return of negotiations and settlement immediately. We remain firmly committed to the UN, to working with sides to reach a lasting peace,” Kirby had said.
Now, however, Kirby’s mistake is corrected, and the OSCE—instead of the UN—is noted in this statement.
