YEREVAN. – I do not have first-hand information on the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone, and therefore I need to be careful in making any proposal, Joachim Savelsberg, Professor of Sociology and Law at the University of Minnesota in the US, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Responding to the query on Azerbaijan’s most recent atrocities against the Armenian civilians in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh), the American professor noted that he heard about these atrocities during the second Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide, which was held on April 23 in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan.
He expressed the hope that the tensions would ease, the sources of contacts would remain open, and future bloodshed would be prevented from both sides.
In response to the question as to whether the international community must take appropriate action to stop the Azerbaijani aggression, Professor Savelsberg stressed that he always believes that the international community must play a role in resolving conflicts between countries and contribute to reducing tension.
