President of Argentina Mauricio Macri has issued a statement on occasion of the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The President issued the statement as a sign of the eternal memory of the victims, being convinced that only respect for high values, which should guide people’s lives, will lead them to peace.

He thanked the Armenian community for the invitation to participate in the commemoration event.

“An important stage in the struggle of the Armenian people for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide has ended,” the statement of the Armenian National Committee of South America says.

Massive demonstrations and events – political, public and cultural – were held in all the countries of the world, which have Armenian communities.

According to the statement, hundred years symbolize the end of a certain stage, not that of the struggle. Now the needs of Armenia and Karabakh become a priority, as well as Turkey’s recognition of its accountability in the beginning of the reparations, the statement notes.
