Marie Yovanovitch will become the new U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Kiev-based Den newspaper writes, citing the source in the Ukrainian MFA.

According to the newspaper, Yovanovitch is fluent in Russian and is well aware of the current situation in Ukraine. Besides, she has a good reputation, the source noted.

In the period from 2005 to 2008, she worked as an ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, while from 2008 to 2011 she served as one to Armenia. Since 2012, Yovanovitch has been the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs..  

She has also worked in the U.S. missions to Mogadishu (Somalia), London (UK), Moscow (Russia) and Ottawa (Canada).

According to media outlets, the current U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt, will be transferred to the same office in Greece.
