Four people have been killed on a ride at a theme park on Australia's east coast, BBC reported.

It was noted that two men and two women died in the Thunder River Rapids ride at Dreamworld on Queensland's Gold Coast.

The park in Coomera has been closed and an investigation is underway, a park spokeswoman said.

 Thunder River Rapids attraction opened in 1986. Ride carries up to six people per car, travelling at up to 45km/h  through rapids and it is billed by Dreamworld as a family ride, riders must be older than two.

Dreamworld is the largest theme park in Australia with more than 50 attractions.
