YEREVAN. – The European Union (EU) is an important partner of Armenia, both in terms of bilateral trade, and investments.

Martin Sargsyan, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Armenia, stated the aforesaid at the EU East Invest 2 Annual Partner Conference that kicked off Thursday in capital city Yerevan.

In his words, according to the Customs Service of Armenia data, the country’s trade with EU countries amounted to about $1.2 billion in 2015; that is, around 25 percent of its total trade.

“I’m confident that, during the coming week, the most important events within the framework of the initiative, as well as the negotiations on concluding the agreement between Armenia and the European Union, will have a considerable importance for the development of Armenia’s business ties and economy,” added the CCI head.
