YEREVAN. – Armenia is negotiating with Western low-cost airlines.

Sergey Avetisyan, Head of the Armenian Government-Affiliated General Department of Civil Aviation (GDCA), told the aforementioned to reporters, after Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.

In his words, however, the question is whether these low-cost carriers will have a demand in the country.

As is known, Russia is the most used destination for flights to and from Armenia.

“It was so, and I believe that it will remain [so] still for long,” added Avetisyan. “And, from here [comes] the interest of Russian low-costs, first of all.” 

Earlier, the GDCA chief had expressed confidence that low-cost Pobeda Airlines will offer a price “starting from 999 [Russian] rubles [approx. US$16],” also for Armenia.

In addition, Sergey Avetisyan had confirmed that this Russian airline will be conducting flights between Moscow and Gyumri, the second largest city of Armenia, apparently, as of late November.
