The Russian Defense Ministry was surprised by the attempt of the American commanders to shift the responsibility of the American aircraft’s violation of airspace rules to Su-35 fighter, said Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov, reports the RG. “ We have to publicly recall our American colleagues about the real picture of the incident in the sky over Syria, "he said.

He explained that on October 17, the US E-3 AWACS aircraft decreased its altitude to 1 km, and approached the Russian fighter at 500 meters. Moreover, as Konashenkov said, according to the US-Russian agreements, Russia informed in advance the current altitude of Su-35. After the incident had taken place, the Russian aerospace forces required the American commanders to provide an  explanation. According to the representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the US Air Force commanders apologized for the incident.
