A cargo aircraft belonging to Trigana Air airline disappeared from radar screens in Indonesia, Transport Ministry spokesman Bambang S. Ervan said.

De Havilland Canada DHC-4 military transport plane headed from Mozes Kilangin Airport in Timika,  New Guinea, to Ilaga Airport in Papua,  Jakarta Globe reported.  

According to the ministry, the aircraft departed from Timika at 7.75 a.m. local time and was expected to land in Ilaga at 8.22 a.m. but lost contact with air traffic control at 8.23 a.m.

The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) and the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) are searching for the missing aircraft and its four-member aircrew.
