The EU has recorded Turkey’s regress in the area of legislation and freedom of expression. Following the coup attempt in July, the situation in this country has seriously deteriorated, the report of the EU Commission says, DW reports.

The document stresses that a number of Turkish laws are not in line with European standards. The EU expresses special concern about the human rights situation in Turkey and detention of Kurdish deputies last week. The report also points out that the Turkish authorities interpret anti-terrorist legislation as they wish, using it for struggling against opposition and journalists.
