The delegation led by the Chairman of the Armenian National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Artak Zakaryan, discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as issues related to the EAEU in the framework of their visit to Berlin from November 9 to 11.

The Armenian delegation was composed of Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Alexander Arzumanyan, Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, Mikayel Melkumyan, Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, Aghvan Vardanyan, and First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments, Garegin Melkonyan.

During the visit the delegation had meetings with Deputy President of the German Bundestag, Edelgard Bulmahn, deputies from different factions, coordinator for Intersocietal Cooperation with Russia, Central Asia and the Eastern Partnership Countries, Gernot Erler, and German Federal Foreign Office Special Representative for Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia, Ambassador Andreas Peschke. Meetings were held also in the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Eastern Europe Business Association of Germany and Friedrich Ebert foundation.

At the meetings, the delegation members presented the priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy, referring to the regional security issues, Armenia-EU relations, as well as the efforts exerted by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group towards advancing the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement process.

Agreements were reached to continue the cooperation both in the parliamentary format and through holding joint business conferences. Issues related to holding a business forum with the medium business representatives in the future were also discussed.

The Armenian delegation presented in detail the work aimed the country’s involvement in EAEU, the continuous improvement of Armenia’s legal and economic capacities, as well as business environment.

Reference was also made to a number of issues of regional significance and sustainable development.

The delegation’s visit to Germany was organized through the support of Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Armenian Embassy to Germany.
