Ethiopian authorities have arrested 11.000 people during the first month of the state of emergency in the country, reports the France Press.  The state of emergency in Ethiopia has been set for six months, since November 9. The authorities undertook such a step for the first time in the last 25 year, because of the outbreak of anti-government speeches and disorder in Oromia region. The agency notes that the number of detainees has significantly increased compared with the end of October, when authorities said, they had detained about 2.5 thousand people.

On October 2, thousands of people gathered in Oromia during a religious festival. As the crowd started chanting slogans, the police tried to disperse the protesters, using tear gas and firing warning shots. The chairman of the opposition party Oromo Federalist Congress Merera Gudina said that more than 100 people were killed during the protests in the country.
