YEREVAN. – Within the framework of NATO Week in Armenia, the military attachés from the US, German, French, and UK embassies visited the Peacekeeping Brigade of the Armenia Armed Forces.

In addition, the guests were shown a film about this brigade, and Armenian peacekeepers’ participation in international peacekeeping activities in Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Lebanon.

“You are in a historic place,” the brigade commander, Major General Artur Simonyan, told these guests. The buildings, which the Peacekeeping Brigade is currently in, were built in 1902.

“Five Armenian divisions were formed here in the years of the Great Patriotic War [during World War II],” added Simonyan. “Subsequently, the first regiment of independent Armenia was formed here.”
