The Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek is lying.

Armenian delegation member Mikayel Melkumyan said the aforementioned at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly held in Istanbul Saturday.

The message disseminated by the office of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) MP reads as follows: “Mikayel Melkumyan noted that the Deputy Prime Minister lied when noting that Turkey is a democratic country and is carrying out democratic reforms, since the very fact that the Armenian-Turkish border has been closed since 1992 up to now, as well as that Turkey is playing into hands of the Azerbaijani criminal authorities, already proves that Turkey is kilometers far from democracy.”

In response, the Turkish Deputy Prime Minster noted that they have a special attitude towards Azerbaijan.”
