YEREVAN. – Our primary task is to organize a spotless parliamentary election in the spring of the coming year.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Chairman, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, noted the abovementioned in his keynote address at Saturday’s 16th RPA congress in capital city Yerevan.

“The coming two, three years will be important from the viewpoint of implementing the constitutional provisions,” said the President. “The new Constitution [of Armenia] substantially increases the role of [political] parties.

“Under these new conditions, crystallization of the [country’s] political arena is inevitable. (…). [And] the RPA shall assume a special mission in this transitional period.

“Yes, we [i.e. the RPA] need the people’s vote of confidence; but not at any cost.”
