YEREVAN. - Political consultations took place between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Belgium on Monday.

Head of the European Departments of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gagik Ghalachyan, and Director for Eastern, Southeastern and Central Asia at the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Johan Indekeu, held the consultations on behalf of the Armenian and Belgian sides respectively.

The Armenian and Belgian diplomats discussed issues on the agenda of bilateral ties, underscoring the importance of reinvigorating the Armenian-Belgian political discourse and the development of the inter-parliamentary ties. Steps aimed at the development of the trade and economic ties were also discussed. Apart from this, the sides referred to the bilateral cooperation in the framework of the international organizations.

On the same day, the Belgian delegation received Armenian Deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan. At the meeting reference was made to the pressing issues on the regional agenda. Deputy FM Kocharyan briefed the interlocutors on the consequences of the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan in April, as well as the latest developments round the normalization of the Karabakh conflict.
