YEREVAN. – Armenian interests will be ignored until countries understand that they will have problems touching Armenian interests, National Assembly Ethics Committee member Tevan Poghosyan stated on Thursday during the discussion titled “What political implications will Lapshin's extradition to Baku have?"

“Of course, on the one hand, we can tell that Lapshin is not a citizen of Armenia and he was paid not for stories which he wrote and that he had been using different passports, based on his own interests. But if we consider the issue from the perspective of Armenian interests, then we ask questions: how do our enemies use any event against us? What should we do not to make the situation repeat again?” Poghosyan asked.

As the lawmaker reminded when Ramil Safarov was extradited from Hungary to Azerbaijan, the Armenian government and state agencies had to convene at least a private meeting to introduce a new institute – scenario programming.

“We have to try to be prepared for such scenarios,” the lawmaker emphasized.

According to Tevan Poghosyan, Armenia should draw lessons after the Lapshin case. And the behavior of the Armenian ambassador to Belarus, according to him, says that there is a system problem.

“This is the result of bad work of the entire government. The country cannot be good, and the ambassador - bad,” the opposition representative concluded.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Supreme Court of Belarus upheld the decision of the Prosecutor General on extraditing Alexander Lapshin to Azerbaijan.

On Tuesday evening Blogger Alexander Lapshin was brought to Baku.
