An ultimatum issued by Zimbabwe African National Union - Patriotic Front party’s expired at noon on Monday, RIA Novosti reported.

During a special ZANU-PF meeting President Robert Mugabe was dismissed as leader of Zimbabwe’s ruling Zimbabwe African National Union - Patriotic Front party on Sunday. Zimbabwe's ruling party has told Robert Mugabe that he must resign as president of the country by midday on Monday, or face impeachment.

Students at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare, boycott lectures and refuse to write exams before Mugabe goes.

The students are also demanding that the University should recall the degree which was awarded to President Robert Mugabe’s wife, Grace.

Robert Mugabe gave a speech on Sunday night, refusing to say whether he would resign.

On Wednesday, Zimbabwe's military blocked the roads to government buildings and parliament, took control of radio and television. The president confirmed in a telephone conversation with his counterpart from South Africa Jacob Zuma that the military has been keeping him under house arrest.
