The expectations that humanitarian situation in Syria will improve in 2017 have not been meet, said Special Advisor to the UN Special Envoy for Syria, Jan Egeland during a briefing in Geneva.

According to him, the situation was expected to improve in 2017, but 2.6 million people were forced to leave their homes because of the armed conflict, compared with 2 million people in 2016.

Egeland noted that the situation in Syria was relatively calm from May to August. October and November were the worst months in the past two years.
