EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton will visit Istanbul to prepare for nuclear negotiations between Iran and world powers.

According to Turkish Foreign Ministry, Turkey-EU relations will also be reviewed during Ashton’s visit.

On January 11, Iran said it is ready for nuclear talks scheduled for January21-22 in Istanbul.

As NEWS.am reported previously, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has criticized Turkey’s position on a Cyprus settlement and promised to put a lot of restrictions in the negotiations on Turkey’s accession to the EU.

Merkel explained that they put a lot of restrictions in the accession of the negotiations, while Turkey fails to implement the Ankara protocol.

One of the conditions of Turkey’s accession to the EU is recognition of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey at the beginning of XX century.
